Water often gets overlooked in nutrition, but it’s essential for nearly every function in the body. From regulating body temperature and supporting digestion to transporting nutrients and flushing out toxins, hydration plays a bigger role than most people realize.
Mild dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, poor concentration, and even sugar cravings—often, when you feel hungry, your body is actually asking for water.
Aim for at least 8 glasses a day, but remember that needs vary depending on activity level, climate, and individual health. Fruits and vegetables like cucumber, watermelon, and oranges also contribute to hydration naturally.
If plain water feels boring, try adding lemon slices, mint, or cucumber for a refreshing twist. Herbal teas and coconut water can also help, but avoid sugary drinks as they dehydrate more than they hydrate.
The bottom line: staying hydrated is one of the simplest, yet most powerful, nutrition habits for better energy, digestion, and overall health.
